Siemens Energy has received an order to equip the three-unit Rabigh 2 combined-cycle power plant in Saudi Arabia.
For each of the units Siemens is delivering two type SGT6-5000F gas turbines, one SST6-5000 HI-L steam turbine, and three SGen6 series 1000A rated generators.
The $590 million order also includes support services for erection and commissioning of the power plant and a long-term service agreement for maintenance of the gas turbines.
The 2060 MW Rabigh 2 plant is being built by Korean construction company Samsung C&T for Al-Mourjan Project Company, a consortium under the direction of the independent power producer ACWA Power.
The IPP plant will be located at Rabigh in western Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea, and is expected to be completed in mid-2017. All three units are designed in multi-shaft configuration and can be fired with either natural gas and crude oil.
The order follows contracts for the supply of Siemens F-class gas turbines for the Qurayyah IPP and Jazan projects in Saudi Arabia in 2012 and 2013.
