Glennmont Partners has announced the start of operations at its 38 MW biomass power plant at Sleaford, UK.
The Investment firm has formally accepted handover of the straw-fired facility and says that it is ready to grow its portfolio of renewable energy projects around Europe.
The Sleaford plant was built by a consortium of Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S and Burmeister & Wain A/S. Glennmont purchased 100 per cent of the equity in the project in December 2011.
Sleaford will generate enough electricity to power 65 000 homes as well as providing free heat to local sports clubs and community facilities, says Glennmont, which owns 300 MW of biomass, wind and solar capacity in France, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and the UK.
