RWE Innogy says that its UK wind control centre will soon start offering renewable and cross technology third party services.

From September, operators will be able to use the wind control centre’s expertise to improve the operation of renewable energy facilities.

The centre operates 24/7 and provides wind farm monitoring and remote trouble shooting services. In 2014, the team managed over 1 GW of renewable energy facilities across the UK.

Adam Oxley, the Control Centre’s Team Leader from RWE Innogy UK said" "We have a really experienced team here. Last year alone we monitored approximately 570 individual turbines across 34 sites in the UK. That includes offshore and onshore and this year we are actively exploring expanding that experience into further wind and solar farms.

“Our role is to monitor our renewable energy facilities and ensure the smooth running of the machines. This could be by providing release of plant in accordance with Wind Turbine Safety Rules, issuing severe weather warnings, curtailing sites, or SCADA solutions. We also provide controlled site access and egress which accounts for an individual’s safety."
