The new boiler plant will run on biofuels, including chips and bark, recycled wood and cuttings from vines. The boiler plant will generate superheated steam for electricity production as well as hot water and steam for the black pellet production process and other nearby industrial processes.
The plant is expected to enter commercial operation in June 2020.
The turnkey delivery includes flue gas cleaning equipment as well as the boiler plant. The bubbling fluidised bed boiler is capable of burning fuels of with a wide range of moisture contents and calorific values, while achieving high availability and efficiency. In addition, the black pellet process produces a waste stream that can be burned in the boiler furnace, improving overall efficiency.
The delivery will also include KPA Unicon`s PlantSys digital platform that enables remote operation and monitoring of the plant, with intelligent predictive maintenance based on real-time information gathered from power plant components.
KPA Unicon has previously successfully supplied a similar boiler to Dalkia for the Lens CHP plant in the north of France, which has operated reliably and efficiently.
