Arauco has selected Abengoa for the construction of a new transmission project in Chile.

The award includes the construction of a 220 kV transmission line and two substations to connect a generation plant from biomass owned by Arauco to the National Electric System (Sistema Electrico Nacional-SEN) through the Lagunillas substation, property of the Chilean transmission company Transelec.

The work is part of a wider project by Arauco, a producer of cellulose and wood derivatives, to upgrade its operations.

Spain-based Abengoa has built more than 3000 km of 23-500 kV lines and more than 40 substations in Chile.
