EnBW says that its Hohe See offshore wind farm has generated power for the first time.
The German utility said this week that one of the 7 MW Siemens Gamesa turbines at the project in the North Sea has fed electricity into the grid.
The announcement came just two weeks after EnBW said that it was halfway through construction of Hohe See and a neighbouring project, Albatross.
EnBW is building the two offshore wind farms as a single 609 MW project. It said at the beginning of July that it had installed 44 out of 87 wind turbines at the sites using the installation vessels Brave Tern and Blue Tern.
The company is planning to bring two turbines on-line each day. The two wind farms are expected to be fully operational by th e end of 2019.
