Uzbekistan’s government has issued a request for proposals for a 100 MW onshore wind farm in the Karakalpakstan autonomous republic.
The tender, issued by the Ministry of Energy, calls for a plant and associated infrastructure. The project has been backed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and will be followed by a second tender for a 200 MW project.
Potential private sector partners are invited to submit an expression of interest to develop, finance, construct and own the project.
The tender is part of Uzbekistan’s renewable energy strategy aimed at generating a quarter of all electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
Uzbekistan has already struck deals on solar plant construction with several companies, including Masdar and ACWA Power.
