Kyokuto Boeki Kaisha Ltd has started marketing a mobile wind turbine / photovoltaic hybrid power supply system. With a power generation output of around 6 kWe, the system is marketed at a domestic price of ¥12-15 million ($112 000 – $140 000). It can be installed without significant engineering at a cost per kilowatt of ¥2 million, roughly half that of comparable systems. The company plans to market the system primarily for use as a back-up power source, but also for use by regions isolated from the grid.
