The Canadian joint venture Ballard Generation Systems has received an order from Cinergy Technology for a 250 kW natural gas fired fuel cell power plant, Reuters reports.
The $1.6 million power unit will be the first field trial unit manufactured by the company. It is scheduled for delivery in the middle of next year.
Ballard Generation Systems in a joint venture between Ballard Power Systems, which will supply the fuel cell for the power plant, and the New Jersey company GPU International. The fuel cell trial is being supported by both Cinergy and the US government. Ballard sees it as a major step in the evolution of its fuel cell for commercial application.
