Vestas has received a firm and unconditional offshore order to deliver wind turbines for the first phase of RWE’s 660 MW Nordseecluster offshore project in Germany. Vestas was selected as preferred supplier for the 1.6 GW cluster (first and second phase) in February 2023, then the conditional contract for the two phases was signed on 17 May this year.
Delivery and commissioning of the turbines are expected to take place in 2026.
The first phase, Norseecluster A, will consist of 44 x V236-15.0 MW wind turbines under a supply-and-installation contract, which includes commissioning of the turbines, as well as a 5-year service agreement followed by an operational support agreement.
• Vestas has flagged up a similar order for a project in northern Europe. It has signed a conditional agreement for the supply of turbines for an offshore wind power array to be constructed in two phases. The project will have an as yet undisclosed capacity but it will be above Vestas’ current disclosure threshold of 1 GW. Disclosure of the details will take place if and when agreement translates into firm and unconditional orders, in accordance with the company’s disclosure policy.
