Sungrow, the prominent PV inverter and energy storage system provider, is to supply its liquid-cooled battery energy storage system (BESS), the PowerTitan, for the 800 MWh Vilvoorde project in Belgium. The project will be developed by ENGIE, and the system will be one of the largest ever installed in Europe with a power capacity of 200MW/800MWh. It is Sungrow’s first BESS project in Belgium. It is scheduled for grid connection in 2025. Sungrow will supply 320 units of its PowerTitan system.
The system is said to save 50% of on-site installation time owing to its compact design and the pre-assembled delivery. The liquid-cooled technology is claimed to ensure longer battery life as it offers an intelligent temperature control system, enabling a maximum battery temperature difference of up to two and a half degrees C. It has achieved shipments in 2023 of over 10.5 GWh worldwide, supporting the adoption of utility-scale storage systems across the energy industry.
