The Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development has said that nuclear powered generation is expected to fall as a percentage of energy output in developed countries over the next decade. According to research by the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency, nuclear power in the 29 member countries is expected to account for 21.4 per cent of total capacity by 2010, down from the 1999 figures of 24.2 per cent. Although total nuclear capacity is expected to rise over this period, as a percentage its contribution will fall.
