Electricité de France (EdF) appears to be reconsidering its position in South America after a series of moves that indicate it may be selling up its assets in the region.

The French giant is reportedly in talks to sell at least some of its 90% stake in Argentinian power company Edenor to Argentinian investment company Grupo Dolphin. Loss-making Edenor has 2.3 million customers.

Meanwhile, Brazilian distribution company Light, also owned by EdF, has become the focus of some attention after senior EdF executives visited Brazil with the avowed intention of improving the financial situation at the troubled unit. Speculation has mounted that this is a pre-cursor to divestment, but EdF executives have apparently denied such reports.
