Although no firm contracts have been signed, Areva may build two reactors at Yangjiang in Guangdong Province for China Guangdong Nuclear Power Holding Co.
The company would be expected to develop two 1,600 MW EPRs and supply fuel cycle services despite a statement from Westinghouse announcing that it is to develop two plants at both the Sanmen and Yangjiang sites.
.The four reactor project, part of a $5.3 billion contract agreed in December, could instead see Westinghouse get a contract for two further reactors at Haiyang in Shandong, in addition to its two at Sanmen in Zhejiang.
China is planning to build as many as 26 reactors by 2020.
