Refurbishment work will include building concrete buttresses to support the dam, eliminating the need for the steel anchor cables.
The Catagunya Dam is located on the Derwent River, 30 km from Ouse and was completed in 1962.

Catagunya Dam in Tasmania will undergo a major refurbishment in March 2008 as steel anchor cables which support the 49m high concrete dam are thought to be suffering from corrosion.
