GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) has secured a digital control system supplier for its advanced nuclear reactors by forming an alliance with Lockheed Martin.
The two US companies will join forces to design and manufacture advanced controls for use in GEH’s Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactors (ESBWRs), which it is developing for the US market as well as for export overseas.
The agreement marks an “exciting moment” for the US nuclear energy industry and would ensure that GEH’s advanced Generation III reactors are equipped with control systems that offer the highest levels of security, said GE.

“This partnership leverages our corporate resources and reactor controls and further diversifies our position in the energy and nuclear power generation segments.”_
In addition to main controls packages, Lockheed Martin also will provide GEH with related simulation and training support, as well as services and replacement equipment.
