Suzlon Group subsidiary REpower Systems SE has announced the completion of installation of its 5,000th turbine, located in Baden-Württemberg’s largest publically owned wind farm, Großer Wald in the Neckar-Odenwald district of Germany. It is the second of five 3 MW 3.2M114 WTGs under construction at the wind farm, and brings the company’s total installed capacity to 9.6 GW worldwide.
Some of that capacity is installed at the world’s largest offshore wind farm to include 6 MW turbines, Thornton Bank, which entered operation on 17 September this year and has 48 REpower 6M and six REpower 5M turbines.
The German domestic market is making a strong contribution to REpower’s business. In the first half of 2013, REpower installed more than 200 megawatts in Germany, thereby achieving a 21 per cent market share. In Schleswig-Holstein, its market share of installed turbines is more than 50 % in the first half of 2013. The company’s goal for 2013 is to achieve a stable, double-digit market share in Germany.
