The project will add 10 MW to the power supply for the capital city Bangui, which suffers several hours of interrupted power daily. The new units will also offer the necessary flexibility to support heavy overhaul maintenance on an existing obsolete hydro plant.

The power plant will run as baseload or peaking, with the power supplied to the public utility grid, which is owned and managed by ENERCA.

Tragedel has acted as the EPC contractor for the project which has been funded by the Saudi Fund for Development.
