GE and Huaneng Guilin Gas Distributed Energy Co Ltd have jointly announced that the first fire of GE’s 6F.01 gas turbine has been successfully completed, marking the first application of GE’s latest F-class gas turbine.
The gas turbine is one of three 6F.01 machines (total installed capacity 210 MW) to be put into operation in a natural gas fuelled CHP facility supplying heat to Guilin’s nearby life sciences, pharmaceutical, and tech industries, as well as providing heating and cooling to surrounding public, commercial, and residential areas. It is the first ever gas power project in the city of Guilin and the largest gas power facility in the province of Guangxi, displacing coal generation and reducing emissions.
In addition, it is also described as “the first- ever distributed energy project managed by China Huaneng Group.”
The 6F.01 turbine can start up and synchronise to the grid within as little as eight minutes and achieve full load in less than 30 minutes, says GE.
The turbine adopts some features used in GE’s 9HA to enhance compressor efficiency as well as employing Advanced Gas Path and combustor materials from GE 9F.05 and H class gas turbines.
In a 1×1 combined cycle configuration, the 6F.01 gas turbine makes possible a power plant efficiency of nearly 55.7%, with an exhaust temperature of 600°C, and a cogeneration efficiency of over 80%.
