l Westinghouse Process Control has won a contract to upgrade the control system of the 300 MW Gacko generating station in Bosnia Herzegovina. The plant, which is operated by the Power Utility of Republika Srpska, represents roughly 25 per cent of the company’s installed base. Electricity from Gacko is used in Bosnia Herzegovina and in Montenegro. Under the terms of the contract, worth around $1 million and funded by the World Bank, Westinghouse and its European suppliers and subcontractors will provide an Ovation information and control system, a turbine system and an uninterruptible power supply. The Danish company Bruel and Kjaer will supply the turbine monitoring system, Emerson Power Systems in the UK will provide the UPS.
