Building starts on STEAG’s 90 MW of battery systems

Nidec ASI (formerly Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali) has begun construction at Lünen on the first of six 15 MW battery storage systems it is to build in Germany for utility STEAG.

The systems will use Nidec ASI’s energy conversion systems with batteries to be supplied by LG Chem. They will be used to provide
auxiliary services to the TSO. As of 2015, Nidec ASI has a portfolio of orders worth about 400 million Euro, with an installed base on more than four continents.
