Doosan Škoda Power reports another steam turbine contract win in Indonesia, for block 2 at the Grati power plant (East Java), an existing open cycle gas turbine plant being converted to combined cycle. It is supplying a single-casing 195 MW turbine.
Towards the end of 2015, Doosan Škoda Power won a tender to supply a 198 MW steam turbine for block 3 at the Grati plant, which it had previously worked on through a Korean EPC supplier, Lotte Engineering & Construction.
The new contract will see Doosan Škoda Power supply to its parent company Doosan Heavy Industries, which is acting as EPC supplier for the new project. The investor is state-owned PLN power company daughter company, Indonesia Power.
Another recent combined cycle conversion project that Doosan Škoda Power is working on is one at Samra in Jordan, where, as at Grati, an open cycle gas turbine unit is being converted from gas turbine open cycle to combined cycle.
For Samra, Doosan Škoda Power is supplying a steam turbine with 70 MW generator. It is a single body steam turbine with reheat and axial outlet to the air-cooled condenser.
In the Samra case, Doosan Škoda Power is subcontracted to Sepco III of China, which is the main contractor for power plant owner and operator Samra Electric Power Company Jordan. Shipping of the completed steam turbines is scheduled for mid-2017, with commercial operation of the completed combined cycle plant expected a year later.
Doosan Škoda Power is already supplying a 183 MW steam turbine to the Zarqa combined plant in Jordan, where Sepco III is also EPC contractor, and has an operating 135 MW steam turbine reference in the country, at the Al Qatrana combined cycle plant, installed in 2011.
