The 7.25 MW demonstration project is located near the Wenchang oilfields in the western part of the South China Sea, 136 km from shore in a water depth of 120 meters.
It is, says CNOOC, the world’s first semi-submersible “double hundred” floating wind project, located in a water depth of over 100 meters and at a distance offshore of over 100 km.
Haiyou Guanlan is China’s first deep-sea floating wind power platform, supplying power to an offshore oilfield “under the most challenging oceanic conditions”, says CNOOC, which owns 100% equity interest in the demonstration project.
