The map shows sites in Iraq where GE Energy is providing heavy-duty frame 9E multi-fuel gas turbines, with a total installed capacity of about 7000 MW, for grid support. Iraq’s current installed capacity is less than 6000 MW, while demand is typically more than 10 000 MW.

GE has a $3 billion agreement with the Iraq government to supply uniform equipment for more than 14 sites, enabling the Ministry of Electricity achieve more flexibility and lower costs by sharing spare parts and operating resources among a number of plants.

The project has started with a fast track phase, consisting of three sites where equipment has been delivered and where construction is due to begin by the end of this year.
