The facility, featuring a combined cooling, heating and power configuration, is the first gas-fuelled power plant in the city of Guilin and is described by China Huaneng Group as its “first ever distributed energy project.” The project can be seen as part of an imminent boom in gas-fuelled distributed generation energy.

Guilin, in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, is a major tourist destination, but is also developing industrially and is looking for cleaner power and efficient heat supply for local businesses (including life science, pharmaceuticals and tech).

Building on advanced materials and technologies adopted from GE’s H and F class gas turbines, the 50 MW 6F.01 offers a combined cycle efficiency of 57% and particularly lends itself to cogeneration applications.
