Centrax, specialist in packaging Siemens gas turbines in the size range 3 to 15 MW, has installed and commissioned two CX501-KB5 DLE generator sets for Hera, one of Italy’s major multi-utility companies.
The aeroderivative gas turbine powered gensets will each provide up to 3.9 MW of electrical power at Hera’s new cogeneration plant in Bologna, replacing an existing power plant coming to the end of its operational life.
Attached to two Ruths boilers, the gensets will enable Hera to heat around 8000 apartments in the Reno-Borgo Panigale district of Bologna (and have the capacity to heat double this number).
