Two Scania diesel gensets will be used to provide emergency power to the 96 000 occupants of 12 houses in Malaysia. The sets have been installed at the KFC Air Kuning chicken farm, in Daerhah Tampin, Negeri Sembilan state.

The farm occupies a 12 hectare site, and includes twelve 128 m long chicken houses, each of which house some 8000 chickens. The two gensets will meet the entire electrical demand of the farm. This includes the feeding machines, watering machines, lighting, heaters, air conditioning, extractor fans and cooling inlet air fans.

Each genset has a Scania DSC14 engine coupled to a 415 V, 50 Hz, 3-phase Leroy Somer alternator. In normal operation, one set will provide sufficient power for the farm. The sets and control panel are installed in a purpose built plant room, along with a 2000 litre base tank for each set.
