Rolls-Royce has launched an upgraded version of the Allison 501K family of industrial engines. The 501-KB7 industrial gas turbine has a rating of 5.5 MWe, increased from the existing 5.37 MWe.
The first and second stages of the turbine are identical to those used on the 501K. The third and fourth stages provide a significantly increased flow area, which improves the turbine’s power and efficiency.
The new model will be available on all new production Allison 501-KB7 engines delivered after June 1999.
