Wärtsilä has entered into a co-operation agreement with US-based Greensmith, the aim of which is to further strengthen its energy system integration capabilities. Greensmith, supplier of energy storage software and integration services, will provide “the full optimisation software needed for hybrid energy systems”, says Wärtsilä.

Through this partnership Wärtsilä says it is broadening its portfolio to cover system integration solutions for all sources of energy. The Greensmith Energy GEMS platform is a widely-deployed and proven energy integration software for grid-scale, behind-the-meter, and micro grid storage control architecture.

Wärtsilä believes its piston engine based Smart Power Generation and solar PV, together with Greensmith’s integration capabilities, will “provide sustainable, reliable, and affordable power – particularly in countries and regions with limited or small-scale electricity grids.”
