1026 MW Acciona wind farm for Queensland

13 August 2020

At 1026 MW, the MacIntyre complex in Queensland will be Acciona’s biggest wind farm in Australia, and one of the world’s largest onshore wind farms.

Acciona has reached an agreement with CleanCo, Queensland government owned renewable generator, for it to become the independent owner and operator of a 100 MW wind farm within the MacIntyre complex. In addition, CleanCo will acquire the annual production from 400 MW of the wind farm’s capacity for ten years under a power purchase agreement.

Acciona says it is negotiating additional supply agreements with private clients as well as the possible involvement of other offtaker-investor partners for its 926 MW of the MacIntyre complex. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-2021, with a gradual start-up in tranches and full operation in 2024.

It will employ 180 Nordex Delta4000 turbines, each with a capacity of up to 5.7 MW. Acciona, which merged its wind turbine business with Nordex in 2016, has a 36.27% stake in Nordex.
