Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation has signed a major contract worth ¤60 million with the Brazilian/Portuguese power generation utility Enerpeixe for the delivery, installation and commissioning of major mechanical and electrical parts and upgrading of the hydro power station Peixe Angical/Brazil.

The power plant will be equipped with three Kaplan turbines. These turbines with 150 MW output per unit and a rotor diameter of 8.6 m, are among the biggest units of their kind in the world. The first machine should be in operation within 36 months.

The biggest Kaplan turbine in the world, with a diameter of 9.5 m, has been in operation at Yacyretá hydro power station in Argentina since 1988, and was also supplied by Voith Siemens.
