Several Caterpillar stationary engine generator set models have been listed in accordance with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Standard for Safety, UL 2200. Developed by Underwriters Laboratories Inc., UL 2200 is the first industry-wide product safety requirement in the United States for stationary engine generator sets rated 600 V and less. Caterpillar made the investment to have UL perform formal, periodic audits of its world-wide genset packaging facilities. UL inspected the first UL 2200 Listed engine generator set package in February at the Caterpillar packaging plant in Griffin, USA. In March it became the first UL 2200 listed engine generator set shipped from a Caterpillar facility.

Cat UL 2200 listed generator packages comply with construction requirements and operational guidelines of UL Standards for control panels, insulation systems and fuel tanks. Enclosures are designed and evaluated to meet UL requirements for weather protection, cooling and combustion, air supply and corrosion resistance. UL is the leading third party product safety certification organisation in the USA.
