Centrax brings twin-shaft SGT-300 to the power market

4 August 2016

Siemens gas turbine packager Centrax has reported sales of the Siemens SGT-300-2S gas turbine to the industrial power generation market. The SGT-300-2S is a twin shaft variant of the well established SGT-300 machine and is said to offer the best efficiency in its class, exceeding 34%.

Centrax offers the turbine in its CX300-2S generating set, described as the most efficient 8 MW gas turbine package on the market.

The first order for the CX300-2S has been placed by Ahlstrom for a facility in Saint Séverin, near Bordeaux, France, that produces sulphurised paper for cooking. The CX300-2S installation will be managed by Engie (formerly Cofely) and will produce steam and electricity for the paper plant. Handover is due in January 2017.

The second order is for Mayr-Melnhof Karton, a board mill in Eerbeek, Holland. The large carton board producing company approached Centrax for possible options for updating the mill. The CX300-2S was selected because of the excellent fit in terms of both performance and thermal output. Handover is scheduled for June 2017.
