Dresser-Rand in deep water

19 October 2001

DR61G turbogenerators to provide power for the BP Deep Water Development programme in the Gulf of Mexico are to be supplied by Dresser-Rand’s plants in Kongsberg and Drammen, Norway. The units incorporate Siemens generators and are powered by GE LM2500 gas turbines.

BP has ordered a total of 14 of the units, at a contract price of $120 million, to be delivered between 2002 and 2005. It is the largest single order made under the ‘rotating equipment initiative’, a special arrangement between Dresser-rand and BP covering global supply of compressors and generating equipment.
