15 May 2018

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) has received a full- turnkey order for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a 2 x 2650 MW natural-gas-fired combined cycle plant in Thailand, being developed by a joint venture of Gulf Energy Development Public Company Ltd (one of Thailand’s largest independent power producers) and Mitsui. A long-term service agreement was also concluded.

The MHPS project scope includes provision of eight M701JAC gas turbines, to be deployed in two power plants (each consisting of four single-shaft power trains) to be constructed in Chonburi and Rayong provinces, with commercial operation slated for 2021 and 2023, respectively. The power will be sold to EGAT (Electricity Generating hority of Thailand) to respond to Thailand’s rapidly increasing power demand.
