Elyo

20 August 2001

Elyo, a part of the Suez infrastructure and services group's Tractebel unit, is to supply energy to a new Airbus factory in Toulouse, southwest France, which is to build the new A380 super jumbo jet. Elyo has won a 25 year contract to supply the factory and other related facilities with electric power, heat and compressed air. The deal is valued at around $240 million. Elyo will initially build a 10 MW gas turbine cogeneration plant to produce heat and power to supply the contract.

Elyo is now focussing on industrial outsourcing. Its US subsidiary, Trigen Energy, has recently secured a contract to supply energy to Durst Organisation in Manhattan. Trigen will install six gas turbines, generating 47 MW, in the basement of Durst's NYCyberCenter to run computer equipment. Maximum outage time is guaranteed at 32 seconds each year.
