High spec gensets for Internet support

23 March 2001

Cummins Power Generation has launched a new range of gensets, designated DQK, fitted with tight output control (in the PowerCommand series) suited to the demands of the market in supply protection for internet and telecoms facilities.

What are called the latest developments in genset integration and control technologies equip the DQK series with 'best in class' levels of power quality across the 1500 to 2000 kVA power band for data storage applications. Steady state operation within a margin of 0.025 Hz and digital voltage regulation to within 2 V are achieved, along with the capability to reach 70 per cent of max rated output within 10 seconds. The DQK is claimed to be the only genset series of its size that can offer a life-test validated MTBF (mean time between failures) figure, allowing reliability factors to be accurately quantified.

The genset has been designed for clean, smooth, quiet and reliable running. Service interval between major overhauls is 20 000 hours. It meets TA-Luft 1.5g/m3 NOx low emission standards and is virtually smoke free at start up. Supersilenced enclosures can reduce sound levels to 70 dBA at 1 metre.
