Jiangsu Etern Co Ltd has opted for a GE LMS100 aeroderivative gas turbine to power a 100 (±10) MW simple cycle natural gas fuelled power plant to be located in Shahjibazar, Bangladesh, with operation scheduled for the second quarter of 2019.

Jiangsu Etern won a turnkey contract to supply the plant from Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). It is a part of the larger initiative undertaken by BPDB to improve grid stability. The Shahjibazar project also marks BPDB’s first EPC contract for an aeroderivative in Bangladesh.

The LMS100 engine provides 10-minute start-up, high efficiency and unrestricted daily stops and starts.

This will be GE’s third power plant project with BPDB in Shahjibazar, the other two employing 2 x 6B and 2 X 9E.03 gas turbines.
