MAN Energy Solutions (formerly Diesel & Turbo) in consortium with Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S (BWSC) has won the 100 m USD contract to build a 56 MW power plant in Bermuda for Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited (BELCO).

The project will see the construction of replacement generation at BELCO’s Pembroke site, comprising 4 × MAN 51/60DF dual-fuel engines, and all associated infrastructure.

The new engines will replace nine of 17 aged engines that BELCO is retiring between now and 2020.

BELCO will continue to use fuel oil until a “National Fuel Policy has been developed”, says MAN.
