No emergency shut down

25 March 1999

GAS Power Systems has developed a control system for its Innovator genset that avoids the need for emergency shut downs.

The Innovator's Control System is said to be unique. Most turbine units shut down with a 100 per cent drop of load, and require a cool down period of several minutes. The Innovator Control System enables a genset to drop 100 per cent of load and simply go to idle rather than emergency shut down. This allows the genset to be back on line within seconds, provided the cause was a circuit breaker trip, or some similar easily corrected cause.
