The Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority has awarded a contact for an overhead power line from Sweihad to Mirfa to the Indian company KEC International. Work on the grid interconnection project is due to start this month and is expected to be completed in around 18 months. KEC has been particularly successful in securing contracts in the United Arab Emirates. A project to build a 400 kV transmission line between Taweelah and Shahama, and two parallel 400 kV lines from Mussafah is due to be completed in December, while a project in Sharjah was finished earlier this year.
