A framework agreement recently signed in Moscow outlines a joint venture dedicated to manufacturing the conventional power islands of Russian nuclear power plants. Atomenergomash will hold 51% and Alstom 49% in the new venture company that will be located in Podolsk, close to Moscow. The facility will manufacture the entire conventional island of nuclear power plants, drawing on Alstom’s “Arabelle” half-speed turbine technology and allow the two partners to propose a package of both the nuclear reactor and the conventional power island.

The two partners will together invest €200 million in the joint-venture in the form of assets and cash.

The Arabelle turbine has an output up to 1,750 MW.
