India’s Power Grid Corporation is continuing the development of an extra high voltage power network, awarding Areva Transmission and Distribution two turnkey substation contracts.
The two orders, with a combined value of around EUR40 million, are for the supply and installation of 765/400 kV air-insulated substations for Grid-II and Northern Grid-III. Areva T&D will also provide 765 kV circuit breakers and substation automation systems as part of the project.
The two projects will enable Power Grid to cater for the increasing energy load requirements in the Punjab and Haryana regions. Both plants are scheduled for commissioning by the end of March 2012.
