The government of Bosnia and Herzegovina is seeking a strategic investor for the first phase of a new coal fired power plant at the Banovici brown coal mine.

The 300 MW project would be built at a cost of €584 million and is scheduled for completion in 2018. It would include development of the Banovici mine.

The strategic partner will help to finance and construct the new power plant, which will be owned by a joint stock company created by mining and energy firm RMU Banovici.

The plant will be located near the city of Banovici in the north-east of the country.
