Bosnia’s autonomous Serb Republic is seeking developers for a 50 MW wind farm that will help the region to diversify energy supplies.
The country’s Energy Ministry has invited bids for a 50-year concession for the Grebak wind farm, which will comprise 15 wind turbines installed near the southwestern town of Nevesinje. The project is the second wind development in Nevesinje and one of a number of new wind farm projects in the pipeline in Bosnia.
The Energy Ministry is expecting the project to cost around $76 million to build. It wants bidders to submit documents by January 1, 2019.
Bosnia has one 50 MW wind farm in operation but the government has set a target of reaching 330 MW of installed wind capacity by 2020.
Last year Siemens Gamesa completed installation of 22 wind turbines at the 51 MW Mesihovina wind farm.
Other wind farms in development include the 50 MW Trusina wind farm and the 48 MW Hrgud project.
