The Albanian government has approved a contract with a Chinese company for construction of the Bushat hydropower plant. The company, Hainan Science, Technology and Trade Co of China, offered the lowest price and most favourable terms for construction of the power plant, on the river Drina.
The power station will be built on the lower reaches of the Drina, below the Fjerze hydropower plant which was also built with Chinese technology. It will have two 40 MW turbine generators. The Chinese company offered credit worth $150 million.
