Endesa has joined an alliance of European utilities that aims to collaborate on developing energy efficiency and other new and innovative energy technologies.
The Spanish utility has signed up to the Innovation Utilities Alliance (IUA), which also includes France’s EDF, EDP Innovação of Portugal and Germany’s RWE. The agreement was signed at a recent round table meeting between the four utilities, where lines of action were also agreed.
Under the agreement the participating signatories aim to exchange ideas and knowledge in a number of areas, including electricity networks of the future. Endesa’s work under the agreement will include projects in the fields of hydrogen, CO2 abatement and the use of semiconductors to improve the efficiency of networks, according to a spokesman.
