Enel Green Power is adding to its portfolio of power plants in Mexico by investing $196 million in the construction of a 100 MW wind farm.

The Italian renewable energy firm says that it has started building the Dominica I wind farm in the municipality of Charcas. The facility is the first wind farm located in the state of San Luis Potosí and will be equipped with 50 wind turbines.

Dominica I will be completed and enter operation in the second half of 2014. It will generate up to 260 GWh per year and will sell its energy under two long term power purchase agreements valued at a total of $485 million.

Enel Green Power currently has an installed capacity of 197 MW in Mexico, 144 MW of which is wind power.
