Enercon and Enerjisa are to build 1000 MW of onshore wind energy capacity in Turkey after winning contracts in the country’s latest YEKA renewables tender.
Turkey’s Energy Ministry has announced that the two companies have won concessions to build 500 MW each in the form of two 250 MW projects.
The wind farms will be built in the Balikesir, Canakkale, Aydin and Mugla regions of the country.
Enercon secured its concessions with a bid of $35.3/MWh for Balikesir and $40/MWh in Mugla. Enerjisa bid $45.6/MWh for the Aydin project and $36.7/MWh for the Canakkale development.
The developers will be able to sign 15-year power purchase agreements for the projects.
Turkey’s YEKA auctions are designed to enable large-scale renewable energy developments in Turkey and are part of the country’s energy roadmap.
