Construction has started on the second phase of the giant Markbygden onshore wind power project in northern Sweden, Enercon has announced.
Markbygden phase II – nicknamed Maximus – will consist of 201 Enercon E-138 EP3 wind turbines and will have an installed capacity of 850 MW. It is due to start operating in 2021.
Enercon is seeking investors for the project, it said. “We are ready to market the project,” said Eercon Managing Director Hans-Dieter Kettwig. “We are convinced to find reliable partners who are interested in a long-term operation of the wind farm. The interest of potential investors is definitely there as we have learnt in previous projects in Sweden.”
Enercon will build around 150 km of access roads for the project, as well as a new transformer station in Trolltjärn to connect the wind farm to the 400 kV grid.
The wind farm will start operating when the grid connection is available in mid-2020, and will be completed by the end of Q3 2021.
